Bolt eases home in 200m heats

Usain Bolt cantered into the semi-finals of the 200m in a time of 20.39 seconds.
Fresh from his sizzling win in the 100m final, the Jamaican milked the crowd in the Olympic Stadium before settling down to business.
He made a fine start, got up on his field within a matter of strides and spent much of the home straight looking over both shoulders for non-existent dangers. He crossed the line first in a time of 20.39, which is pretty much a jog for the world record holder.
"The crowd are wonderful," Bolt said. "I am always happy and am enjoying it. I know what comes with success and winning and I try to do it and enjoy it."
There are unlikely to be dangers to Bolt in the final, but Christophe Lemaitre is a live medal hope and the Frenchman eased home in his heat in 20.34.
Christian Malcolm produced a polished effort to come home in second in his heat behind Maurice Mitchell. The Brit's time of 20.59 was not particularly quick, but he was able to get up early and then coast down the straight to qualify.
If there is to be a danger to Bolt it is likely to be his team-mate Yohan Blake and he cruised through his heat and later shrugged off fitness fears.
"My foot's cold but I'm good and healthy," he said. "Like Usain Bolt, I love the 200m too. It's my better event because I have more speed endurance."
