Salazar looking for more Mo Farahs

Mo Farah's coach Alberto Salazar is looking for a new crop of talent to put Britain back at the top of the distance running tree.

Salazar is the mastermind behind Farah progressing from a runner of potential to the world and Olympic champion.

Farah sets out on his bid for a second gold of London 2012 in the 5000m on Wednesday and Salazar wants the Brit to be the inspiration for the next generation.

Farah moved to Portland 18 months ago to link up with Salazar and his 'Oregon Project'. The move has paid off with Olympic and World Championship wins. And with success in the bag, Salazar wants the backing to bring through more Mo Farahs.

Salazar said: "In 2001 we started the Oregon Project to get more medals for American distance runners at World Championships and Olympics but in the last three years we began to work closely with UK Athletics and their head coach Charles van Commenee.

"American fortunes had gone down for 20 years and British fortunes had also gone down in distance running. So our goal was to get Brits and Americans competing for medals.

"We showed we've got the model, we just need the support to duplicate it to get more young Brits, more young Americans in good programmes like we're running together and I think we can have more of this."
