The World Anti-Doping Agency is investigating a problem with the drug-testing laboratory in Russia which will be used for the Sochi Winter Olympics, less than three months before the Games begin.

WADA president John Fahey revealed the organisation is probing "a matter" with the lab in Moscow but did not give any further details.

The IOC have been made aware of the problem and are awaiting WADA's findings, which they expect to hear in the next few days.

The WADA-accredited lab handled drug tests for the Moscow World Championships in August. They had been due to transfer facilities to Sochi ahead of the Olympics, which take place from February 7-23.
