UK Sport targeting up to 120 medals in 2014
UK Sport has announced a target of between 90 and 120 medal from key events for funded Olympic sports in 2014.
The goals apply to various world championships and other elite competitions as part of the build-up to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Athletics has been handed the biggest target of any Olympic sport with an expectation of 47 medals from the Commonwealth Games and European Championships combined.
Paralympic sports have been told they are expected to win 108 and 153 medals in their key events.
UK Sport is responsible for determining how public funds raised via the National Lottery and taxation are spent on elite sport. It set out a record £350m in funding for Olympic and Paralympic sports heading into Rio 2016 based on their performances at London 2012 and reviews targets every year.
Athletics was allocated funding of £26.8m in December 2012, the third highest amount, and met their minimum medal target in 2013 with six medals - three gold and three bronze - at the World Championships in Moscow.
Rowing was handed the largest warchest of £32.6m and has been set a target of between three and six medals at the World Championships in Amsterdam. Cycling, which received the second largest funding allocation of £30.6, has been told to bring home six to eight medals from its World Championships.
At the lower end of the funding scale, sports such as weightlifting and fencing have been set targets of 45 Olympic qualification points and a place in the last eight, respectively.
A number of sports have already held their milestone events for this year. British fighters achieved their best ever performance at a European Taekwondo Championships back in May, securing eight medals.
