Adlington pleased with Olympic preparations

Rebecca Adlington believes her preparations for the 2012 Olympics are going "really well", as she targets the World Championships in July as a chance to see how she measures up against the rest of the world's swimmers.
The 22-year-old, who won 400 and 800 metres freestyle gold in Beijing three years ago, picked up three golds at the recent British Swimming Championships in Manchester, also finding form in the 200 metres.
With just 500 days to go until the Games in London, Adlington believes she is on track to give herself a great chance of emulating that feat - and hopes to show that sort of form when she returns to China for the World Championships in the summer.
"They're going really well," Adlington told Sky Sports, when asked about her preparations. "I've got the Worlds in Shanghai in July which I'm so excited for. A year before London, it's a chance to race everyone in the world and see where everyone's at.
"I think I'm in pretty good shape, and I'm just excited for next year. I'm a little bit older and it's a little bit different to going into Beijing, but I just hope it'll be the same in the end and I'll be able to get there."
After experiencing positive support at the Manchester Aquatic Centre earlier this month, Adlington is looking forward to racing in front of another vociferous home crowd in just over a year's time.
"It's such a rare opportunity," she said. "Not many people get the opportunity to have that crowd behind you. It'll just be amazing."
