Huxley made his Super 12 bow with the Reds in 2003, becoming a regular in the Queensland side and also enjoying a short spell with the Northland NPC side in New Zealand. In 2006 it was confirmed that the utility back would be joining the Brumbies. In 2007 he made his Australia debut against Wales in Sydney, playing nine Tests including three at the Rugby World Cup. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2008 after suffering a seizure while playing against the Reds. Having undergone surgery and radiation therapy to rid himself of the tumour, Huxley was hoping to make a return to competitive action in the 2009 Super 14. This aim was premature but Huxley made his competitive return for the Brumby Runners in 2010 before being named on the bench to face the Chiefs at Canberra Stadium in March that year.
