2007 Felipe Contepomi, somewhat surprisingly deployed at inside centre with regular fullback Juan Martin Hernandez at fly-half, kicked four penalties for the Pumas, while Ignacio Corleto crossed for the only try of the game. The beleaguered French, who turned in a nervy, error-strewn display, managed just four David Skrela penalties by way of a response. The French did recover and defeated the All Blacks in an epic quarter-final in Cardiff on their way to the last four before ultimately bowing out at the hands of England. Argentina's interest was also ended at the semi-final stage, by eventual winners South Africa, but the tournament ended on a high for the South Africans, the Pumas beating France for a second time in the third/fourth place play-off.

1963 Tries from centre John Gainsford, lock Tiny Naude and skipper Abie Malan saw the Boks home, with Keith Oxlee kicking two conversions and two penalties.
