Gareth Thomas could be set to re-ignite his Test career in rugby league.
The 36-year-old, Wales' most-capped player in union, made the switch to Super League with the Crusaders in March and is reportedly keen to pull on a Wales jersey in the 13-man code.
Wales, coached by his former international team-mate Iestyn Harris, face Scotland, Ireland and France in October's European Cup, with a spot in the Four Nations alongside England, New Zealand and Australia on the line.
"He has indicated that he would be available," Welsh rugby league chief executive Mark Rowley told BBC Sport. "This would be another feather in his cap. He has played 100 times for Wales and he could get another three or four caps for Wales rugby league."
Thomas played his last union Test against Fiji at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, leaving him with a total of 103 caps, including three for the British & Irish Lions in 2005.
