The Chiefs will be forced to make do without the services of former All Blacks skipper Tana Umaga for their next two Super rugby games because of injury.

The 37-year-old centre, who was capped 79 times by New Zealand, damaged his calf muscle in training in Johannesburg on Monday and has been forced to return home for further treatment.

With Umaga having been ruled out of Sunday's clash with the Lions at Ellis Park and the following weekend's meeting with the Bulls in Pretoria, Jackson Willison has been called into the Chiefs squad to provide midfield cover.
