The Blues have added former All Blacks winger Jeff Wilson to their coaching team ahead of the 2012 Super Rugby season.

The 60-cap New Zealand international has been coaching the Blues Development side alongside Nick White and also pairs up alongside Liam Barry as assistant coach of Luke McAlister's former stomping ground ITM Cup side North Harbour. He will continue those roles while taking on the skills coach position with the Super Rugby side.

Wilson will work alongside Pat Lam and Bryce Woodward and Lam is looking forward to Wilson's input. "We wanted someone to co-ordinate our skills programme," Lam said. "Jeff is a perfect fit for us - his reputation for high standards and values as a player and now a skills coach is superb, and he will fit well into our environment. He's from within our franchise and considering his role with the Blues Development side, this is a natural progression for him."

And Wilson is looking forward to working alongside Lam. "Coaching the development team with Nick has included input from Pat and Bryce," Wilson said. "Now to take that up another level by working closely with them and the players is a challenge I'm really looking forward to."
