Brian O'Driscoll handed Leinster and the British & Irish Lions an injury scare when he was forced out of his province's RaboDirect PRO12 victory over Glasgow on Saturday night.

Leinster stayed on course for a league and Amlin Challenge Cup double with a narrow 17-15 victory over their Scottish rivals at the RDS but it came at a cost with O'Driscoll limping out of the action after just 13 minutes. Leinster coach Joe Schmidt later confirmed O'Driscoll had suffered a back spasm.

His enforced withdrawal immediately cast doubt on his fitness for Leinster's euro showdown with Stade Francais on Friday night, their PRO12 final date with Ulster the following week and the British & Irish Lions having been included in Warren Gatland's squad for the tour to Australia last month.

O'Driscoll's centre partner Gordon D'Arcy also hobbled off during the nailbiting win due to a calf injury with the Ireland international set to undergo a scan to verify whether he has torn the muscle. Another player in doubt for their season run-in is flanker Sean O'Brien who was a late withdrawal ahead of last night's clash due to a calf problem.
