Leinster are poised to complete the signing of former Australia winger Lote Tuqiri on a short-term deal.

The Fijian-born dual code international has been drafted in by Leinster coach Matt O'Connor on a three-month contract as cover for South Africa's Zane Kirchner who has delayed his arrival at the RDS until October due to his Rugby Championship commitments with the Springboks.

The Irish Times reports that the 33-year-old is execpted in Dublin this weekend to finalise the deal following the completion of the National Rugby League (NRL) season in Australia where he has been playing for the Wests Tigers. Tuqiri previously worked with O'Connor at Leicester Tigers during the player's one-season stint with the Premiership club in 2009-10.

Tuqiri made his name as an exciting talent with the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL competition and went on to earn international honours with both Fiji and Australia. He was lured to rugby union in 2003 and went on to win 67 Test caps and score 30 tries before switching back to league in 2010 with the Tigers.
