British & Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland took a surprising swing at former Ireland captain Keith Wood over comments he made before the decisive third Test in July.

Wood was highly critical of the decision to drop Brian O'Driscoll for the match, reiterating his position even after the game which the Lions won.

Asked about Wood in a live Q&A session on WalesOnline, Gatland said Wood was a 'Me Feiner', a Gaelic term for someone who is self-obsessed and only looks out for himself.

"With regard to Keith Wood, I think he's let himself down basically," Gatland said. "That's for him to have to deal with. Rather than respect that coaches make decisions he's gone and made it a little bit personal.

"That's probably a reflection of him as an individual. The Irish have a great saying - 'he's a me feiner'. That probably sums him up."
