Danny Care has called for his England team-mates to stand and deliver when they face South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday.

England were beaten by the All Blacks last weekend following an uncharacteristic second-half display. Stuart Lancaster is looking for his first victory over the Springboks, who remain unbeaten in the last 11 Tests against England.

However, Care said in his Telegraph column that it is time for the England players to start delivering results against the bigger sides.

"We owe everyone a big performance. Apart from the injury to Semesa Rokoduguni, Stuart Lancaster has backed the same England team to deliver despite our defeat by New Zealand last Saturday," Care said.

"We owe it to him, and to ourselves as a team, to prove him right. Stuart told us that we deserved to go out there and right a few wrongs from last weekend and hopefully we will do that and get the right result.

"We believe we can beat the Springboks, but we must match our belief with our deeds. There comes a time when the learning has to take a back seat and you have to start delivering results against the big teams."

South Africa visit Twickenham on the back of a defeat to Ireland. Care, who will win his 50th cap when the teams emerge on Saturday, knows England will face a tougher task than usual.

"As if South Africa were not angry enough, they are going to be annoyed and hurting from the weekend. But so are we. It will be like two scalded beasts going at each other," Care said.

"I will be winning my 50th cap on Saturday. I am not yet sure if I will be leading the team out but if Chris Robshaw gives me a nudge and says "out you go" I would love it. It would be amazing - the best moment of my career so far - but whatever the team decide I will go with.

"Hopefully, the back-row forwards will lead the charge and the team will be right behind them. As New Zealand proved to us last week, you cannot win rugby matches by playing in your own half."
