Former All Black prop Clarke Dermody has been plying his trade for London Irish since 2007 and will captain the Exiles in 2010.
An experienced and skillfull loosehead, Dermody began playing rugby Tokanui, near Invercargill on New Zealand's south island and after playing schools rugby for Southland Boys High School and the Woodlands Club he represented New Zealand at underage level.
He signed for Southland in the National Provincial Championship and went on to represent them 79 times, captaining the team in 2004. His consistent performances earned a call up to the Highlanders in 2003 and he played Super rugby 31 times for the franchise.
In 2006, he was picked for New Zealand and made his All Black debut against Ireland in a hard fought 34-23 win in Hamilton. He scored a controversial try against the Irish in their second Test a week later, before earning the last of his three caps against England in Twickenham in November of that year.
His move to the northern hemisphere meant he hasn't donned the famous black jersey since, but in 40 appearances for London Irish he has earned a strong reputation in the Premiership and Heineken Cup.
