Hodgson is Australia's renaissance man, forcing his way back into contention for an elusive first Australia cap in recent times after first coming close back in 2005 when he represented Australia A and the Australian Sevens team.
Hodgson broke back into those sides in 2008, and was further rewarded for strong form for the Western Force with a spot on the plane for the Wallabies 2009 end-of-year tour.
The flanker, who is regarded as versatile and hard-working, was the oldest of seven uncapped players to be selected for the Grand Slam attempt.
