Bedford Blues maintained the pressure on Worcester Warriors at the top of the Championship table with a 39-22 victory over Bristol on Boxing Day.

Handre Schmidt, who was a late comer to the starting line-up, scored two tries for the Blues while Sacha Harding and Alex Rae ensured the hosts of the bonus point. Captain James Pritchard also contributed 19 points with the boot. Mako Vunipola went over for Bristol and Nicky Little enjoyed a 100% kicking record, but the Blues were always in control of the match.

However Worcester desponded on Tuesday with a resounding 45-7 victory over Moseley. Prop Adam Black, who had not score in 36 games, grabbed two tries for Worcester. Wings Marcel Garvey and Miles Benjamin along with Tom Arscott and Kai Horstmann also crossed for the Championship leaders. Prop Nathan Williams grabbed a consolation for Moseley.

Paul Sampson scored two tries for London Welsh as they beat Esher 24-17 at Old Deer Park. Fly-half Jamie Lennard added 14 points with the boot while Sam Ulph and Chris York crossed for the visitors.

Matches between Birmingham & Solihull and Rotherham Titans and Nottingham and Doncaster Knights were called off due to the weather.
