Italy's Tommy Allan has been given a two-year contract extension at Perpignan.

Allan, 20, has become Perpignan's first choice fly-half having started the campaign third in line. Camille Lopez is out for the rest of the season with ruptured cruciate ligaments while James Hook is being increasingly used at full-back.

"For a lad that the majority of you didn't even know he existed a year ago, his performance wasn't just good, it was extraordinary," Perpignan manager Marc Delpoux told reporters at the weekend.

Allan has a Scottish father and Italian mother, and although he was born in Italy he moved to England when he was seven and went on to play for Scotland at Under-20 level before deciding to throw in his lot with Italy after no Scottish clubs made moves to sign him.
