Japan continue to dominate the emerging nations after securing a 37-29 victory over the USA in the Pacific Nations Cup.

Full-back Ayumu Goromaru put in yet another impressive kicking performance for the Brave Blossoms, converting seven of his eight attempts for a personal tally of 17 as Japan secured a bonus-point victory.

But Japan were not reliant on points from the kicking tee, with No.8 Ryu Koliniasi Holani scoring two tries and scrum-half Fumiaki Tanaka and wing Akihito Yamada chipping in with a try each.

Holani's match started on a disappointing note when his pass from a lineout was intercepted by Cam Dolan, who ran 20m unopposed to touch down. But the influence of Steve Borthwick as Japan's new forwards coach was clear to see as they fought back to set up scrum-half Tanaka after a well-executed maul.

To their credit, the USA played their part in a free-scoring encounter as Leicester Tigers' Blaine Scully went over for a hat-trick of tries, with Dolan adding a fourth to ensure the Eagles matched Japan in the try-scoring stakes.

But the visitors were too strong, adding the scalp of the USA to that of Canada after last weekend's victory. They now have nine points from two Pool B matches and are undefeated in their last nine matches.
