FA Cup not coming to Twickers
July 23, 2001

Rugby HQ is unlikely to be hosting the FA Cup final despite reports the Millennium Stadium will not be used next year because of transport problems last year in Cardiff.

The FA have said their intention is to bring the final "home" to England as soon as possible and Twickenham has always been a potential location.

But the RFU say there is no possibility that the game will be played in Twickenham, something that would certainly be opposed by the local population in the south west London town.

The Sunday Mirror had reported that the FA was looking to move the final away from Cardiff and with Twickenham being the only viable alternative venue naturally the presumption was made.

The FA are thought to prefer a London venue, with the redevelopment of Wembley stalled, however no talks have been had or are planned.
