Healey row rumbles on
September 15, 2001

The controversy surrounding Austin Healey's Lions tour of Australia has been reopened with a newspaper report detailing the Leicester star's uneasy relationship with head coach Graham Henry.

Healey has already been fined for comments he made in a series of articles written during the stint Down Under.

Now the Daily Mail has published extracts from an uncut version of the official tour video in which Healey hits out at Henry and team manager Donal Lenihan.

Of Henry, Healey is quoted as saying: "I liked him as a man. I thought he was very sarcastic. He was good to get on with.

"I just didn't see eye-to-eye with his rugby coaching or his man-management.

"The simple fact of the matter was that as the tour progressed, I wanted to play for the lads and the shirt more than I did for him."

The England international also takes a swipe at Lenihan over an incident following the Lions' first defeat against Australia A.

"We got a slating off the coaches which I thought was definitely a bit unfair," said Healey.

"The way Donal spoke to us after the game, I was pretty close to chinning him.

"The lads had put in a huge amount of effort throughout. A lot of us were very tired. It's quite hard for someone to say that when you've been out there working your socks off for 80 minutes."
