Scotland squad for Commonwealth Games
March 4, 2002

Scotland have included three current senior internationals in their expanded 35-man rugby sevens squad for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester later this year.

Lions back row Simon Taylor and winger Chris Paterson, who both started Saturday's 43-22 Lloyds TSB Six Nations defeat to Ireland in Dublin, and fly-half bench man Duncan Hodge have all been named in the party which will be coached by former Scotland scrum-half Roy Laidlaw.

Promising Glasgow back-row Donnie Macfadyen is also named, along with district team-mate Roland Reid, whose experiment at playing on the wing has been put on hold in recent weeks.

But it is unlikely that the bigger names in the squad will be used in the first build-up event in Hong Kong on the weekend of March 23, which clashes with Scotland's next Six Nations outing against France at Murrayfield.
