Hurricanes v Cats - Preview
March 21, 2002

The Hurricanes welcome the Cats to Wellingotn this weekend for their latest Super 12 clash.

HEAD TO HEAD: Hurricanes 2 Cats 2
COVERAGE: Fox Sports
LAST TIME: Cats 18-15 - Bloemfontein

FORM
There's no doubt the Hurricanes are one of the most dangerous sides in the competition, but they will never win the competition until they find some consistency. Two weeks ago they were humbled by the Stormers 40-15, but bounced back last week to thrash the Sharks 40-17. Their defence last week was excellent.
The Cats showed a little more improvement in the 44-21 loss to the Waratahs, but there are still major problems in defence hence the imposing points-against figure of 179 after four games.

WHO'S HOT
It's not often the Hurricanes front-row gets many wraps, but Gordon Slater, Andrew Hore and Tony Penn really put one over the Sharks, who were expected to dominate in this part of the game.

WHO'S NOT
Jonah Lomu is looking to get involved, but his ball security at the breakdown is atrocious.
Not really sure what the Cats were up to when they were trailing 30-6 against the Waratahs and chose to kick for goal when they got a penalty in front of the posts.

KEY MATCH-UPS
Christian Cullen v Conrad Jantjes
Tony Penn v Willie Meyer
Jonay Lomu v Stefan Terblanche

WE THINK
The Hurricanes strung it all together against the Sharks and Wellington folk will be expecting them to do it again against the lowly Cats. Two wins in a row just might spark a bit of a roll for the Hurricanes and considering their firepower in the backline and the Cats' defensive woes there is the potential for a cricket score. Hurricanes by 20.
