Quins leave Luger out in the cold
March 25, 2002

Dan Luger has been brought back down to earth following his try-scoring exploits against Wales - by lining up in Harlequins' second team against the Army on Wednesday night..

Luger claimed a couple of quick-fire second-half touchdowns as England crushed Wales, but that seems to have cut little ice with Quins, who dropped the Lions wing for a priceless Zurich Premiership victory over Newcastle nine days ago.

And Luger, scorer of 19 tries in 26 Tests, clearly faces a battle to regain first-team status for next Sunday's league trip to Bristol.

Quins coach Mark Evans preferred 1998 England tourist Matt Moore against Newcastle as last season's European Shield champions continued their relegation fight. And Evans could be reluctant to change that starting XV, with bottom club Quins facing the first of three successive away games, which are followed by fixtures at London Irish and Wasps.
