Galthie confident of Slam glory
March 25, 2002

French skipper Fabien Galthie has no intention of lettinghis side throw away their chance of Grand Slam glory.

'Les bleus' set up the chance of their first Grand Slam since 1998 with an impressive 22-10 win over Scotland and now must beat Ireland in Paris to clinch the Slam.

"They have some good players, a good kicker and of course Brian O'Driscoll," admitted Galthie. "He is a real star, but I will not be worrying about him for 14 days."

Galthie added, "We had a very tough game against Scotland and, of course, England were difficult to beat.

"We had to do different things well in those two games and, of course, one was at home and the other was away, but we won both."

The Irish however will also have a certain amount of belief going into the Stade de France showdown, having beaten France in their two most recent matches.

O'Driscoll inspired an historic victory in Paris in 2000 and last year Ireland won 22-15 in Dublin.

However, both wins were gained against a French team lacking arguably its key element - Galthie.

The Stade Francais back, who has played in three World Cups, including the 1999 tournament final, said: "I was injured two years ago and banned last year, but I hope to play this time."
