Worsley signs new Wasps deal

Zurich Premiership side Wasps have been boosted with the news that Joe Worsley, Josh Lewsey, Paul Sampson and Shane Roiser have signed new two-year contracts with the club.

But Wasps have failed to keep their 79 times-capped New Zealand All Blacks lock Ian Jones, despite offering him renewed terms.

Jones is keen on a move into coaching, and is poised for a role working alongside his ex-Wasps boss Nigel Melville, now in charge at Gloucester.

Jones' immediate task though, revolves around continuing a Wasps revival under new coach Warren Gatland against Northampton this weekend.

Victory over Saints would take the Londoners fifth, increasing their prospects of automatic Heineken Cup qualification next term.

But Saints have similar ambitions as they embark on a gruelling three games in nine days programme, starting on Saturday and followed by a midweek trip to Bristol before winding up their Premiership campaign at home against Newcastle.

"Ideally, I would like to prevent our players from starting all three games," said Northampton coach Wayne Smith.

"I have rotated the squad from last Saturday, because we have a busy week ahead of us and we want to keep the players as fresh as possible."
