Sale opt for Friday night show
May 4, 2002

Sale have confirmed they will play their home games on Friday nights next season.

The move comes following a successful Friday night fixture against Saracens last month, with supporters behind the initiative.

"Friday night rugby will give us an added advantage in terms of the atmosphere and conditions," said Sale coach Jim Mallinder.

"I am delighted that Sale are striking out in a positive move to attract a larger audience, while helping the team in its quest for success."

Sale's millionaire backer, businessman Brian Kennedy, is determined to see the Cheshire club gain more support where it matters most - through the turnstiles.

Sale are currently enjoying arguably the most successful season in their history, finding themselves on course for automatic Heineken Cup qualification in addition to contesting the Parker Pen Shield final against Pontypridd.

Sale have confirmed the Friday switch in a season ticket leaflet to supporters.
