Tour doubts over Simpson-Daniel
June 2, 2002
Gloucester winger James Simpson-Daniel faces a fitness test this week which could rule him out of England's summer tour to Argentina. The Yorkshire-born flyer picked up an ankle injury in England's clash with the Barbarains which ruled him out of Sunday's 33-11 Zurich Championship semi-final win over Sale at Heywood Road, and Gloucester coach Nigel Melville still is not sure what the exact damage is. "We thought it was just sore but it is a bit worse than that," admitted the former England scrum-half. "It is not broken and there is no ligament damage but it wasn't worth taking a chance today and jeopardising anything in the future. "It is too swollen to run just now but he will have a scan during the week and we'll take it from there." |
