San Mateo national champs again

San Mateo has retained its national clubs crown by winning the USA Rugby national clubs championship in Pittsburgh.

In all one-way traffic on Sunday, San Mateo, the defending champs, beat Austin 37-3 in the Men's Division One championship game. The victory followed a 27-16 win over the Back Bay Sharks on day one of the Final Four tournament.

In the playoff for third and fourth places the Hayward Griffins downed Back Bay 27-11. New Haven won the Division Two title, while Chico won the Third Division crown.
