NZ Maori side to face Waratahs
June 6, 2002

New Zealand Maori coach Matt Te Pou has made several changes to the side that lost to the Reds for saturday's clash with the Waratahs.

Former All Black Carlos Spencer moves from fullback to fly-half after first-choice halfback Rhys Duggan (neck) and centre Ryan Nicholas (elbow) weren't considered after being injured.

However, coach Matt Te Pou was confident both players would recover in time for the big game against the Wallabies in Perth on Saturday week.

The Highlanders' Willie Walker will play at fullback as Spencer takes over from Glen Jackson at five-eighth.

Rico Gear takes over at outside centre from Nicholas while Blair Urlich replaces penalty-prone Matua Parkinson at openside flanker.

Reece Robinson comes into the second row with Kristain Ormsby going to the bench.

NZ Maori: Willie Walker, Roger Randle or Joe Maddock, Rico Gear, Mark Mayerhofler, Bruce Reihana, Carlos Spencer, Brendon Haami, Deon Muir (capt), Blair Urlich, Jonno Gibbes, Bryce Williams, Reece Robinson, Carl Hayman, Slade McFarland, Greg Feek.

Replacements: Corey Flynn, Tony Penn, Matua Parkinson, Kristian Ormsby, Riki Flutey, Glen Jackson, Maddock or Randle.
