Canada 7s squad announced
January 27, 2007

Canada make two alterations to the squad that earned four series points in their last two outings in December.

Fire-fighting work commitments forcing captain Christoph Strubin to relinquish his place and Stu Ault recalled to the senior men's World Cup squad preparation program.

Veteran Akio Tyler has been recalled to the side, while University of Victoria's Gordie Sawers earns his first sevens place.

"With Christoph and Stu not available we need to add some experience to the forwards," said head coach Shane Thompson. "So Akio will provide that experience to us."

Canada's High Performance Director Geraint John will manage this Wellington and San Diego tour, providing him with the opportunity to observe the sevens program first hand and act as an Assistant Coach alongside former player Thompson.

Canada squad: Kyle Haley,Nathan Hirayama, Tony La Carte, Robin MacDowell, Phil Mack, Phil MacKenzie, Neil Meechan, Dave Moonlight, Gordie Sawers, Rob Turk, Akio Tyler, Kris Witkowski
