Cheetahs fullback Bevin Fortuin is set to get the nod for the Springboks this weekend as they look to counter the resurgent Wallabies.

Boks coach Jake White is reportedly going to turn to Fortuin after watching how Australia caused the All Blacks back three problems with an incisive kicking game during their 20-15 victory in Melbourne last weekend.

The Wallabies had the benefit of input from rugby league legend and 'kicking consultant' Andrew Johns in the build up to last week's victory and he has been retained by Australia coach John Connolly for Saturday's clash in Sydney.

"You could see Johns' influence," an impressed White told the Daily News. "Quite obviously, we need to improve our stability at the back. I think Bevin will be the right choice for this match."

Fortuin will likely fill the No.15 shirt with JP Pietersen an Breyton Paulse lining up on the wings.

"Bevin is the best kicker of the fullbacks we have here on tour," added White. "But we don't just need him for his safety under the high ball and his ability to return kicks with interest.

"He is strong at the breakdown and we need that out wide where the Wallabies do a lot of their attacking. They are very strong in that No 13 channel through both Stirling Mortlock and Lote Tuqiri. We need somebody who is physical at the breakdown there because they like to recycle quickly, change direction and catch you out on the other side of the field because you have not had time to reorganise your defence."

Fortuin, who has been rewared for a solid season in the Super 14, made his debut for the Springboks against Ireland in Dublin last year and most recently played a key role in the Emerging Springboks' victory in the IRB Nations Cup.
