Cardiff Blues hooker Rhys Thomas has agreed to join Wasps ahead of next season, according to reports.

The Western Mail claims that the 29-year-old will follow in the footsteps of former Blues coach Dai Young and opt for a switch to Adams Park. Current Wasps and England hooker Rob Webber has recently confirmed that he will join Bath for the 2012-13 season and Thomas will look to fill that void.

The news will come as a blow to the Blues with Gethin Jenkins and Casey Laulala both recently announcing that they will play in France and for Munster next term respectively. And doubts still surround the future of Gavin Henson.

Thomas last turned out for Wales in 2008 and has 27 Wales caps to his name. He has been at the Blues since the region's inception in 2003 and with Gareth Williams retiring, Thomas' departure leaves Ryan Tyrrell and Marc Breeze as the Blues' options at hooker.

News of Thomas' departure comes quickly after Ospreys' hooker Huw Bennett confirmed on Monday that he would take up a contract with Lyon next season.
