Edinburgh stalwart Chris Paterson is set to hang up his boots at the end of the season.

With Edinburgh playing their final RaboDirect PRO12 match of the season this weekend at Murrayfield, the club have called on fans to bid farewell to ten players who are leaving the side. One of the ten is Paterson with the club revealing that he will "take up a new non-playing role" within the club's set-up next term.

Paterson retired from Scotland duty back in December and he will finish his rugby career still holding the all-time record for both points scored and Test appearances for the national side.

Scrum-half Mike Blair is also poised to feature for Edinburgh for the final time after recently confirming his departure to a yet to be confirmed destination though it is believed that he will move cross-Channel to the Top 14 Orange.

Three other long-serving players will depart - fly-half Phil Godman, hooker Andrew Kelly and flanker Alan MacDonald - along with front rowers Kyle Traynor, Ulises Gamboa and Jack Gilding and Argentinian lock Esteban Lozada.

Jim Thompson will miss the Murrayfield goodbye as the fullback is set to play for Scotland in the Glasgow leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series this weekend.

Edinburgh head coach Michael Bradley said: "Saturday will be a memorable match for a number of reasons. We'll bring the curtain down on an incredible season, say farewell to these fine players and, at the final whistle, look to the future and begin preparations to capitalise on this landmark year.

"It'll be an emotional day for fans and players alike, as they show their mutual appreciation for the role they've played for the club over the years."
