Harlequins have retained the services of hooker Chris Brooker on a deal that will run until 2013.

The 24-year-old front-rower joined Quins from Bath in the summer of 2007 and has since made 56 appearances for the club. His re-signing follows on from recent deals with promising prop duo Joe Marler and James Johnston.

"This is a team that has so much potential and a great team spirit," he said. "There are so many young, English players that are coming through the academy and challenging for our first team places that there is no doubt that there are exciting times ahead for Quins."

Director of rugby Conor O'Shea added: "At 24 he is just going to get better and better. He fits the profile of the type of player and person we want at this club and I am sure he will be ambitious to succeed both with Harlequins and also to push on and add to his Saxons honours at a higher level."
