Bath have been boosted by the news that prop David Flatman has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the club.

The 31-year-old loose-head, who has been capped eight times by England, has proven an integral member of the Bath squad since arriving at the Rec in 2003 and was only too happy to sign a contract extension.

"I am delighted to have signed for another three seasons at the club I call home. Bath is a hugely ambitious club, and I am excited that I am going to be part of a club that are looking to move things forward, both on and off the field," Flatman said.

Bath head coach Steve Meehan was just as pleased that the veteran front-row had agreed to commit himself to the club for a further three seasons.

"Flats is a guy who loves playing for Bath and in many ways represents what the culture of the club is," he said. "He's completely thorough in his approach, a great example of a professional sportsman to the squad, and yet at the same time he is a bit of a laugh and always brings a sense of perspective to the squad and staff. I enjoy having him around and I'm sure that those who work with him and his supporters share the same thoughts. He's got a lot more to give and I look forward to seeing him deliver."
