Gloucester have added experienced hooker Andy Long to their front-row ranks ahead of next season.

Long is currently turning out for Northampton Saints and has emerged as a key figure in their pack in recent times due to Dylan Hartley's suspension. The hooker will bring a wealth of experience to Kingsholm as he has already turned for Bath, Munster, Rotherham and Newcastle and is closing in on 200 Premiership appearances.

Gloucester have already brought in Wallaby Huia Edmonds while Darren Dawidiuk also offers another option at hooker but Long is relishing the chance to make his mark at the club.

"I've been fortunate enough to play for some great clubs in my time, but I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to joining Gloucester and playing in front of one of the most passionate crowds in rugby," Long said. "I've always relished playing there and have experienced some great battles in front of the Shed.

"Gloucester have made some great signings for next season and I'm looking forward to playing my part in what should be an exciting season."
