Saracens fly-half Charlie Hodgson has been ruled out for a "number of weeks" after fracturing his cheekbone against London Wasps at the weekend.

Hodgson was forced off the field in the closing stages of the fixture and Saracens boss Mark McCall said that his injury "did not look good" post-match. The fly-half has now undergone surgery to repair the cheekbone and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Saracens are already without Owen Farrell for the next few weeks as he is on England duty and it was Nils Mordt who stepped into the void left by Hodgson when he left the field on Sunday. The news will come as a massive blow to Sarries as Hodgson has been one of the Aviva Premiership's in-form fly-halves this term.

He has played 10 matches for them this season and has slotted 90 points in the Premiership - the fourth highest in this term's top flight.
