Toby Flood has insisted he made the right decision in joining Toulouse, despite the move to France jeopardising any hopes he might have had of adding to his tally of England caps.

Flood's decision to leave Leicester Tigers in the Aviva Premiership for the south west of France this summer has almost certainly cost him his place in the England set-up ahead of next year's World Cup, given Stuart Lancaster's refusal to select players based overseas.

But the fly-half, who scored all of Toulouse's points in their narrow 20-19 victory over Oyonnax on Saturday, said the chance of playing in a different country was too tempting to turn down.

"I had the opportunity to represent my country 60 times for a long period," said Flood, who racked up 301 points for England. "I miss those days but I couldn't miss the opportunity to come to Toulouse. I always wanted to play in a different country.

"It's been enjoyable so far really, this team has some fantastic players. My integration was pretty straightforward, the guys are great, they look after you."

Toulouse host last season's runners-up Castres on Friday and Flood was under no illusions that the season would get any easier.

"There are a lot of good teams, good players," he said. "You can't take anybody lightly. Last year, the championship was really tight - you have to fear every team."
