Danny Cipriani has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following an early morning car crash, according to reports.

The Sale Sharks fly-half, 27, was said to be unhurt in a collision between his Mercedes and a Toyota in the Chelsea area of west London shortly after 5am on Monday.

The Press Association reports that he was given a breath test and taken to a west London police station before being released on bail.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 5.15am on Monday, June 1 to reports of two cars in collision in Imperial Road, SW6.

"No reports of any injuries. The cars involved were a silver Toyota Prius and a black Mercedes C63.

"The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

"He was taken to a west London police station where he was later released on police bail. Return date to be confirmed."

Cipriani's representative Oliver Ward said in the Daily Mirror and the Sun: "There was a minor road traffic collision last night and Danny co-operated with police by going to the station.

"He has not been charged with any offence and is on unrestricted bail except to return to the station when the police have investigated what happened."

The RFU, when contacted by ESPN, was not commenting on the reports as of Tuesday morning.

Cipriani, who starred for England in the 73-12 triumph over the Barbarians last weekend, is hopeful for a place in head coach Stuart Lancaster's squad for this year's Rugby World Cup.

In 2013 he suffered concussion after being hit by a bus while on a night out with team-mates.
