Wasps boss Ian McGeechan saluted a superb second-half performance after his team underlined their Guinness Premiership title credentials by fighting back to defeat Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop.

Quins were in complete control just before half-time, leading 13-0, but the Wasps forwards staged a second-half show of power to inspire a 23-16 victory.

The win, secured by second-half tries from number eight James Haskell and academy wing Chris Bishay, took Wasps into third place, one point above Gloucester.

McGeechan said: ``I am delighted. It was one of the best wins we have had for a long time.

``We were tremendous in the second half, and it is all credit to the pack.

``We had been on the ropes, but tactically, we were superb in the second half and took all the right options with no unforced errors.''

Wasps' victory followed up a 28-0 win against Bristol last weekend, confirming they are once again moving into top gear approaching the season's business end.

Wasps skipper Lawrence Dallaglio said: ``There is a bit of momentum there, and we have always said that six games out from the end of the Premiership season is when you start to make your move.

``I think today's result is a turning point for us, and the response in the last two weeks after losing at Newcastle has been excellent.''

Quins rugby director Dean Richards struggled to mask his frustration after his team had to content themselves with a losing bonus point.

Richards said: ``I am bitterly disappointed. We were 13-3 up at half-time, but then we went out for the second half and our tactical nous was virtually zero.

``We scored a great try in the first half, but we didn't take all our chances, which was disappointing.''

Quins wing Simon Keogh scored a superb first-half try, while Adrian Jarvis kicked two penalties and a conversion, but Wasps eased home on the back of Mark Van Gisbergen slotting three penalties and two conversions.
