London Irish flanker Steffon Armitage has been tipped to follow his brother Delon into the England setup by the Exiles' attack coach Mike Catt.

With Wasps openside Tom Rees out for the Six Nations with an injury to his Anterior Cruciate ligament, Armitage could find himself upgraded from his current place in the England Saxons setup when Martin Johnson announces his squad for the Six Nations next Wednesday.

Catt had high praise for Armitage, comparing him to his old team-mate and World Cup winner Neil Back. "Steff's from the Neil Back mould. He's got every attribute to be an international open-side flanker," Catt told the rfu.com podcast.

"He's been outstanding for London Irish this season. His distribution is very good, his pace is very good and he's great over the ball. I think he deserves an opportunity.

"I know what these Armitages are like! Delon took his opportunity with both hands and somewhere along the line I'm sure Steff will do the exactly the same."
