London Irish hooker David Paice has been suspended for four weeks for verbally abusing the match officials during his side Premiership defeat to Harlequins.

Paice was sent-off after 22 minutes of Saturday's Guinness Premiership defeat to Harlequins following an incident sparked by a scuffle with opposing prop Mark Lambert.

He was subsequently charged with "dissent/verbally abusing referee Tim Wigglesworth" which resulted in a red card and of "verbally abusing fourth official Dave Pearson" after being dismissed.

The England international, capped on last summer's tour to New Zealand, pleaded guilty to the charges (viewed as conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Union and/or the Game RFU Rule 5.12) and was handed a suspension of four weeks for each offence to run concurrently from February 16 to March 16 and is free to play again on March 17.

The case was heard today by a panel of RFU Disciplinary Officer His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett (chairman), Julian Morris and Jeremy Summers.
