Bath have signed France Sevens international Jacques Boussuge on a one-year deal following a successful trial.

The 25-year-old joins the Aviva Premiership club from Top 14 side Montpellier, having impressed sufficiently in pre-season to land a deal. He bagged a brace for Bath United in a friendly against Newbury.

"Jacques has been really solid at training and in the matches and has got some good experience behind him," Bath head coach Steve Meehan said. "We feel that with a little more time here he can develop his game further in a short period of time. He has a great attitude, and we think he is going to fit in really well with the squad and our ambitions for the future."

Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld echoed Meehan's sentiments and confirmed that Boussuge would soon return to the Recreation Ground.

"Jacques has accepted a contract and will be back in Bath in the next few days," he said. "The coaching team believe they can make him into an even better player and build on his existing skills. He's certainly got plenty of pace, and that's something you can't coach. Attitude goes a long way, and Jacques is massively enthusiastic about playing for Bath."
