Nick Evans has committed his future to Harlequins by signing a two-year contract extension with the Aviva Premiership club.

Evans, who won 16 caps for New Zealand, has pledged to stay at the Twickenham Stoop until at least 2013. The fly-half joined Quins from Auckland Blues two years ago and has established himself among the most effective overseas signings made by an English club during rugby union's professional era.

"Harlequins allow me to play the style of rugby that I believe brings out the best in me as a player," he said. "We have a great team here at Quins, right the way down from the International and senior players, to the academy boys who are breaking through, to the coaches.

"I am happy both on and off the pitch, and am looking forward over the next two years to helping the club compete for those top-table places and challenge for silverware."

Quins rugby director Conor O'Shea added: "Whether you are a coach, player or supporter of Harlequins, this is fantastic news for everyone at the club."
