Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld is hoping to bring rugby league star Kyle Eastmond to the Rec in an ambitious cross-code swoop.

The St Helens halfback has been linked with a defection to union in recent days and Blofeld is keen to see him try his hand in the 15-man-code.

Eastmond has represented England on four occasions after making his Saints debut in 2008 but suffered a series of ankle problems last season, limiting him to a handful of appearances.

"We are always interested in good players and Kyle is clearly a very talented young man who has already achieved a lot in league and has great potential in union," he told The Daily Express.

"We recently met Kyle and his manager and explained what we are up to here and showed him around. He is an impressive young man, very grounded but ambitious, and we'd be very interested in him joining Bath."

Bath coach Brad Davis echoed Blofeld's sentiments and believes that the 21-year-old could make a 'seamless' transition into rugby union.

"He's one of league's most exciting prospects and could make the transfer across pretty seamlessly," he told BBC Radio Bristol. "Any club he chooses to go to will greatly benefit from his services."
