Wentzel agrees new Leeds deal

Leeds skipper Marco Wentzel has agreed a new two-year contract with the Aviva Premiership club. The 31-year-old second-row joined Leeds from Leicester at the start of last season and played a major role in their top-flight survival during that campaign. The former Springbok's signing follows days after director of rugby Andy Key was shown the door at Headingley, with the Yorkshire club facing a vital clash with relegation rivals Newcastle this weekend. "It is an honour to captain the side, and I know that brighter days lie ahead for us," Wentzel said. "Obviously, we find ourselves at the foot of the table at the moment, but I have huge belief in this squad and I am sure we can get ourselves out of this situation." Leeds head coach Neil Back added: "It is fantastic news that Marco has agreed a new deal with the club. Marco's professionalism and the way he carries himself both on and off the pitch is an example of where we want to take our club." Meanwhile, Saracens prop Matt Parr has agreed a return to former club Nottingham at the end of the season. The 28-year-old, who has made six appearances for Saracens after joining from Nottingham last summer, has agreed a two-year contract with his previous employers. "I'm really happy to be heading back and bringing the new skills I have learnt back to Nottingham as the club looks to push for Premiership promotion," Parr said. © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
