Sale have continued their recruitment drive for next season with the capture of winger Charlie Amesbury on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old England Sevens international has spent the last two seasons with Newcastle, having joined the Falcons following a spell with Harlequins.

The Sharks have been busy in recent weeks, securing Clermont Auvergne fly-half Tasesa Lavea as well as a host of forward options, including Munster prop Tony Buckley and Scotland international Richie Vernon.

"Charlie is a good signing for the club," Sale's executive director of rugby Steve Diamond said. "His chances at Newcastle have been limited of late due to an injury, but he is back to full fitness and I am looking forward to welcoming him to pre season training in June."

Amesbury expressed excitement at the switch, adding: "I have enjoyed my time at Newcastle and thank everyone there for the support over the past two years, but the time is right for me to take up this new challenge at Sale, who are clearly showing a huge amount of ambition moving forward."

Meanwhile, Harlequins locks Ollie Kohn and Peter Browne have both agreed two-year contract extensions with the London club.
