James Gaskell has signed a two-year contract extension with Sale Sharks.

The 20-year-old forward's new deal will keep him at Sale until June 2014. He is a product of the club's academy system and has represented England at Saxons level.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and I firmly believe the club is going in the right direction," he said.

"I sat down with Steve Diamond [Sale's executive director of sport] soon after he was appointed and he told me about the club's vision, and I want to play a part in it."

Diamond added: "James is the type of player we want to build the future of the club around. He is a very talented individual with a great work ethic and is respected by everyone at the club."

Meanwhile, Gloucester have confirmed the signing of Italy 'A' prop Dario Chistolini for next season. The 22-year-old tight head, who was born in South Africa, has agreed to move to Kingsholm from Italian side Petrarca.

"I can't wait to move to England, to get to know my new team-mates and start my preparations for next season," Chistolini said."I've done my homework and know a lot about the club and its traditions. Gloucester are one of the top clubs in England, play at a superb stadium and enjoy fantastic support."
