Saracens gained revenge for their defeat to Exeter at Vicarage Road back in October to record a seventh successive Aviva Premiership victory with a 33-12 win.

The visitors dominated the final quarter and finished the game strongly, scoring 20 points to inflict the Chiefs' heaviest league defeat of the season. Chris Wyles, Noah Cato and Rhys Gill touched down for Sarries with Andy Goode adding a further 15 points with the boot. Jason Shoemark scored the Chiefs' opening try and Sireli Naqelevuki added a consolation effort late on for the Devon side.

The Chiefs started with some good rugby but when they were put under pressure 15 minutes into the game they conceded a penalty for not releasing the ball smack in front of the posts and Alex Goode, playing at fullback, kicked the opening points.

Saracens maintained the pressure and wing James Short came close to scoring in the left corner but Chiefs gave away another penalty, again in front of the posts, five minutes later for offside and Goode slotted his second kick between the uprights.

Just after the midway point of the half Shoemark had his kick charged down and Brad Barritt collected the loose ball to put his centre partner Wyles through for the first try of the game which Goode converted.

With five minutes of the half remaining Luke Arscott picked up a poor pass off his toes and managed to get the ball away to Shoemark to cross for his first try for Exeter, but Gareth Steenson was unable to convert to leave the Chiefs trailing 13-5 at the break.

When Saracens found themselves in the opposition half in the second period they were awarded a 35-metre penalty and Goode extended the visitors lead with his third penalty. But when scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth took over the kicking duties from Goode a couple of minutes later, he missed the target with his touchline penalty attempt.

With just 14 minutes of the game remaining fly-half Owen Farrell landed a 30-metre kick and then replacement wing Cato, who is joining Northampton next season, powered his way past the defence to the line with Goode converting from out wide.

Replacement prop Chris Budgen was penalised in midfield and from a kick to the corner set up a powerful Saracens maul to drive over Gill for the touchdown, with Goode again converting.

But Exeter did not let their heads drop and kept pressing for another score and with time up on the clock, centre Naqelevuki scored in the right corner with replacement Ignacio Mieres adding the extras.
